Hacienda North Farms

One megawatt natural gas turbine with hot water and CO2 recovery forms backbone of off-grid microgrid with 500kW of solar PV.
Overview

Off-grid stand-alone microgrid providing power, heat and CO2

Hacienda North Farms, located in the Leamington area of Ontario, has a 96-acre operation specializing in growing bell peppers for the Canadian and US markets.

This area of Ontario is home to the largest concentration of Greenhouses in North America, and the local electrical utility struggles to provide growers with capacity.

The customer required onsite generation to support an expansion to their existing operations. Vergent provided an off-grid redundant microgrid solution that features no energy storage, harmonization with existing solar generation onsite and ultra-low emissions for efficient CO2 recovery.
